NAFS in Canada blog launches

Sept. 18, 2014 – the RDH Group has announced a new blog dedicated to the application of the
NAFS standard in Canada. Written for a wide audience that includes Canadian architects,
engineers, and building officials, NAFS in Canada will specifically address issues of
interest to manufacturers of windows, doors and skylights in both Canada and the United
States.

NAFS standard in Canada. Written for a wide audience that includes Canadian architects,
engineers, and building officials, NAFS in Canada will specifically address issues of
interest to manufacturers of windows, doors and skylights in both Canada and the United
States.

The North American Fenestration Standard changes how we test and specify fenestration
performance in Canada, affecting manufacturers, builders, building officials, and design
professionals. NAFS was intended to harmonize Canadian and American performance
testing requirements for windows, doors and skylights, but significant differences remain,
and NAFS in Canada is very different from NAFS in the U.S.A.

Many in the construction industry and its supply chains find dealing with Canadian NAFS
requirements confusing. There are differences too in how NAFS is applied to Part 3 and
Part 9 buildings. Today there is little practical information on this subject available online,
and there is a need for greater awareness of the NAFS standard among Canadian design

addressing issues and answering questions on the minds of those who deal with
fenestration performance issues.
