FenCan heading across the pond

April 22, 2019  By Fenestration Canada

Fenestration Canada is planning a mission to Birmingham, U.K., May 21 through 23 to meet with British counterparts and attend FIT 2019, the U.K.’s largest show for the window and door industry. Interested members are all invited to join the trip.

“We got invited to attend the FIT show in Birmingham by our UK counterparts so we can open commercial relationships between our countries and also discuss and learn about best practices in our industry for our respective countries.” FenCan executive director, Stephane Labelle, explains. “What we are currently doing in Canada and are trying to establish relates to what exists in the UK and I think we can learn a thing or two from these kinds of meetings.

For example, we plan to meet with organisations like FENSA, a  government-authorized organization which works with thousands of double-glazing contractors in England and Wales who have been assessed for their ability to install replacement windows and doors in accordance with the relevant building regulations. FENSA has over 6,200 approved installers completing approximately 600,000 installations per year.

“Another interesting meeting will be with the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) who represents companies that manufacture, supply or install glass and glazing products in the UK and internationally. Being the industry authority, the GGF promotes best practice and sets the highest technical and health and safety standards. The Federation is also the voice of the industry in local and national politics helping shape and influence policy and legislation.

“And last but mot least, we’ll talk to the British Fenestration Ratings Council (BFRC) which is the premier UK authority for independently verified ratings of energy efficient windows and doors. BFRC-rated energy products carry a ‘rainbow’ label similar to those found on fridges, freezers, and washing machines.”

Members can sign up for the trip by emailing the Fenestration Canada office.
