Bush of PPG elected to NFRC board

Feb. 20, 2014 – PPG Industries has announced that Paul W. Bush, PPG manager of technical services for flat glass, has been elected to the board of the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC), occupying the Fenestration Industry (primary glass manufacturer) seat. “We are pleased to have Paul as a representative of PPG and primary glass manufacturers on the NFRC board,” said Richard A. Beuke, PPG vice president, flat glass. “The NFRC has been instrumental in driving innovation in the glass industry through its focus on component modeling and developing energy-efficiency ratings of commercial and residential glazings. Paul’s background in product development and his active leadership in other glass industry associations make him an ideal choice for this critical position.”

Through his 27 years with PPG, Bush has been part of several of the company’s technical innovations for the fenestration industry, including the development of post-temperable, low-emissivity (low-e) coated glass products such as the Solarban brand of solar control, low-e glass.
 
In addition to his NFRC service, Bush is first vice president of the Glass Material Council (GMC) and chairman of the Glass Designed for Sloped Glazing Task Group at the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA). He also is a member of the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) C14 Committee on Glass and Glass Products and the Energy Efficient Fenestration Steering Committee of Natural Resources Canada.
 
Since joining PPG in 1986 as an associate in the glass engineering group, Bush has held posts in PPG’s flat glass, OEM (original equipment manufacturer) automotive glass, automotive replacement glass, aircraft transparencies and fiber glass businesses. A University of Pittsburgh graduate with a degree in electrical engineering, Bush has served in various roles with the NFRC since 1997.
