Pomerleau partners on innovation to enhance the Canadian construction industry

July 18, 2017  By Pomerleau Inc.

July 18, 2017 – Pomerleau is pleased to announce that it is investing in innovation to bring new business practices to market that will enhance quality in the construction industry across Canada. Pomerleau’s investment will enable it to efficiently prequalify trade partners. The prequalification of trade partners is a common practice across North America, but a relatively new one in the province of Quebec.

Pomerleau, in partnership with other general contractors, has invested in an industry solution called COMPASS, which enables the prequalification process to be a one-stop procedure whereby subtrades need only submit their confidential information once to a central system. This eliminates the need to undertake individual prequalifications with many general contractors.

Pomerleau is working in collaboration with EllisDon, Aon Risk Solutions, Lumbermens Construction Credit, Bird Construction, Clark Builders, SKYGRID Construction Inc. and Sterling West Credit Corp.

COMPASS is co-owned and operated by an independent third-party, Bespoke Metrics Inc., It is a web-based software that will gather, organize and analyze subcontractor data from multiple sources. It produces an unbiased and consistent assessment of execution ability and financial capability, a ranking by trade type and insights for subcontractor prequalification, while maintaining the highest level of subcontractor privacy.

This new software expands Pomerleau’s offering of subcontractor tools and will allow Pomerleau to self-insure trade partners on most projects.

“As a leader in construction, we want to continue to bring innovation to the construction industry, raise the bar in terms of quality and give our clients a first-class service,” said President and CEO Pierre Pomerleau.
