Oct. 2, 2013 - A solid turnout of about 20 people invested some time at the Architectural Testing Canada testing facility in Winnipeg, benefiting from a tour by manager Bryan Boyle. The group were also updated by the FenMan executive and continued with a number of discussion topics including planning for the Fenestration Canada AGM in Winnipeg in 2014. The group unanimously approved the appointment of Ethero (Monica and Cameron Derksen) as an executive management team to assist the group to get to the next level as an association. FenMan members are also looking to take the next step with the Fenestration Canada group in terms of membership and benefits.
Sept. 17, 2013 - About 50 door pre-hangers and suppliers took in Fenestration Canada's seminar on NAFS-08 compliance in the Ontario Building Code at the Hilton in London, Ont., Sept. 12. The sold-out room was brought up to date on the new rules coming into effect Jan. 1 by Fenestration Canada technical consultant, Jeff Baker, J.F. Kogovsek of Maxam Marketing and a panel consisting of Haya Soghrati of Can-Best, Claudio Sacilotto of Intertek and Jennifer Wren-McDonald of Exova.
Sept. 5, 2013 – Fenestration BC will host a half-day workshop for door pre-hangers Sept. 10 from 11:30 to 4:00 at the Sheraton Guildford, 15269 - 104th Avenue, Surrey, B.C., discussing upcoming changes to the BC Building Code. The grace period for the application of NAFS-08 under Part 9 of the BC Building Code will expire on Dec. 19. This meant that windows, doors and skylights installed before Dec. 20 may conform to the 2006 code or to the 2012 code. Fenestration products installed on or after December 20 must conform to the 2012 code and with NAFS-08. The extension does not apply to Part 5 buildings.
Aug. 27, 2013 – The American Architectural Manufacturers Association will host an online contest on both Twitter and LinkedIn running two days: August 28 and Sept. 4 at 2:30 p.m. Eastern. The contest will feature quiz questions from AAMA’s FenestrationMasters program, the association's program for comprehensive professional education and certification.
Aug. 21, 2013–New highlights and innovations – that's what exhibitors and visitors can look forward to at R+T 2015 in Stuttgart. Four hundred exhibitors have already registered to date while waiting lists are being created in some areas. “Around 75 per cent of our total exhibition area is already booked up," said Sebastian Schmid, R+T project manager, describing the impressive response from exhibitors. Messe Stuttgart is currently honing the accompanying programme for the grand event: 50 Years of R+T in Stuttgart.

June 25, 2013 - Fenestration Canada honoured the late Richard Poirier with its C.P. Loewen award for lifetime achievement at its President's Dinner, part of its Annual General Meeting held June 1 in St. John's, N.L. The award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding dedication, commitment and accomplishment in the Canadian window and door industry. Dan Darcy, a longtime colleague of Poirier's, presented the award. Poirier's wife, Georgia, and son, Patrick, were on hand to accept the award.
June 17, 2013 - Fenestration Manitoba held its first-ever Annual General Meeting June 11. It was a combination educational day and golf event, including an informative presentation by Fenestration Canada technical directory, J.F. Kogovsek of Maxam Marketing. About 50 attendees took in the morning presentations.

Apr. 29, 2013 – Robert Rivard has been named the full-time executive director of Fenestration Canada following a three-month search. Previously, Rivard was doing the job part-time as part of his role with the Canadian Wood Manufacturing Council. This marks the first time Fenestration Canada has had an executive director employed directly.
April 24, 2013 - Insulating Glass Manufacturer's Alliance administrator, Allison Beck, has passed away. The IGMA has released the following statement: "It is with great sadness that the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA) today announced the passing of Allison Beck, IGMA’s Administrator, after a brave battle with cancer. Allison passed away at the Ottawa General Hospital surrounded by her family and lots of love.
