WinDoor Quebec City will feature some exciting new technology
In recent months, we have been involved in many activities, including energy regulations, building codes, tariffs, WinDoor planning, membership recruitment and installation certification.
The first eight months of the year have blown up as the GreenON program has blown up.
WinDoor 2018, happening Dec. 4 and 5 in Quebec City, will include for the first time a slate of commercial education sessions and exhibits. One of these will be "A Window to the Canadian codes and fire safety regulations" presented by Amal Tamim and Marc-Andre Langevin of Technorm.
As part of its outreach to the commercial glass fabrication sector, WinDoor, happening Dec. 4 and 5 in Quebec City, will feature a bilingual presentation by Mathieu Massicotte of Edgehog detailing his Montreal startup's efforts to commercialize a nanoetching process that renders glass non-reflective and water-repellent. The process is described in the latest issue of Glass Canada magazine.
The website for FenCon19, coming March 6 and 7 to the RBC Convention Centre in Winnipeg, is live with online registration available. The event hosted by Fenestration Manitoba welcomes window and door fabricators from across country for superior education and networking opportunities.
WinDoor 2018, taking place Dec. 4 and 5 in Quebec City, will celebrate a few firsts. It's the first time Canada's trade show for the window and door manufacturing industry will be held in Quebec City, following up a successful event in Montreal two years ago. And for the first time there will be an added focus on the architectural glazing side of the market, with exhibits and education sessions aimed at those who specialize in curtainwall, storefront and custom aluminum fenestration for commercial, institutional, industrial and high-rise residential facade construction.
A breakfast networking gathering organized by Cam Drew of Thermoproof and Fenestration Manitoba achieved some level of expected success as about 20 to 25 people showed up despite some trouble with the hosting restaurant. On behalf of the organizers, our apologies and next year would have to be a better, more accommodating location.
Sept. 11, 2018 - The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) and the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA) have jointly released a series of web pages providing a general overview of the standards, specifications and test methods used in the window, door and skylight industry related to glass and glazing systems. A Consumer's Guide to Understanding Glass Standards Used in Windows, Doors and Skylights is now available as a complimentary resource on AAMA's and IGMA's websites for the industry to share with consumers.
It all kind of came together with a little bit of luck and lots of elbow grease including the usual amazing organizing work by the FenMan Executive Director, Nancy Zubriski.  Blue skies throughout, perfect temperature, little or no wind, well manicured greed St Boniface golf course, larger turnout than 2017, a dinner with excellent food, great support by the supply industry AND a recognition of Aurele Robin as Builder of the Fenestration Manitoba organization!  What more could you ask for?  FenMan president Gary Blad provided the MC leadership including the presentation to Aurele.
