FenCon22 postponed

December 3, 2021  By Al Dueck

FenCon22, originally scheduled for March 15-16 in Winnipeg, has been postponed by the host, Fenestration Manitoba. The conference has been disrupted substantially for several years and yet the need for the professional interaction and development remains strong.  Our industry is going through a turbulent time with a great deal of opportunity but a definite need for implementation of newer technology in terms of automation, material finishes, material and product handling/packaging and more Continuous Improvement training.  Hence, we have been conducted some “testing of the waters” to see the level of enthusiasm and the results were initially very encouraging!  Somewhere between 70 and 80% of respondents to date provided a positive view of coming to an “in person” conference and were planning to come to FenCon22.  Perhaps even more encouraging is the feedback from the industry regarding their views of this window and door manufacturing conference.

However, the pattern began changing as the impact of Omicron became more apparent.  Sadly, FenCon22 can’t proceed as scheduled as there is simply too much risk with COVID again closing borders and creating too much uncertainty.  We are going to consider a different “FC Lite” and possibly postpone it to May or June, depending on conflicts/environment.

Please take a quick look at just a few of those comments originating from coast to coast in Canada and different parts of the US.  This encouraging set of comments makes one that much more determined to keep the momentum alive one way or another . . stay tuned!

“I am looking forward to attending FenCon22 in March.  This conference has become one of the “must attend” conferences for North American window manufacturers for pertinent, content rich and effective programs in the industry.  We always learn a great deal from the conference and find the opportunity to discuss common challenges with other manufacturers insightful and helpful.” – Brad Begin, President, Alpen Windows, Louisville, Colorado

“We run a complex manufacturing operation and it has always been difficult to find one place for stronger development and training for our production staff.  FenCon22 represents that type of conference where our people have an ability to learn from on point seminars including Continuous Improvement as well as interacting with other manufacturing professionals. In addition, we are able to influence the programming to address our latest issues such as automation on door assembly and shipping/handling.  We will be sending at least 3 people to FenCon in March,” – Kevin Pelley, President, Kohltech Windows, Halifax, Nova Scotia.

“Attending FenCon has always been a high priority for our company, and the return of FenCon22 is no exception”  – Christopher Meiorin, President, Euro Vinyl Windows & Doors, Woodbridge, Ontario

“Loewen Windows has found that an industry-focused one-day conference held within Canada is very valuable, in providing our people the opportunity to interact with others from the industry, and gather knowledge on automation, robotics, glass technology, sustainability trends, and other topic areas.”  – Al Babiuk, President and CEO, Loewen, Steinbach, Manitoba

“FenCon always delivers a great line-up of informative seminars.” Cam Drew, President, Thermoproof, Vancouver Island, BC

“Glad to hear this conference is back on the calendar! We certainly enjoyed the content from FenCon20. As a young, growing company, FenCon has provided us with a strong foundation of contacts and industry knowledge that has helped propel our growth and understanding of our market. Without FenCon, we would be missing out on a tremendous amount of inut from experts around the continent as well as new technologies that can increase efficiencies and reduce waste. Hope to see you soon!” – Mitchell, Production Manager Enerlux Windows, Crete, Nebraska

“As a multiple past Presenter I can attest that FenCon22 will make your effort worthwhile.  FenCon22 carefully examines what topic is relevant to the industry and ensures there are no duplicate Presenters and that each Presentation is unbiased.  Preceded by an effective marketing campaign, all this combined, makes for successful attendance at each Presentation. As an Attendee there is sufficient opportunities of engagement between your Industry Colleagues and the Showcase stations.  The Keynote Speakers have always been entertaining and most importantly, on point.  I wish FenConn22 ultimate success this Spring.” – Maria Jasminez, Director of Customer Relations, Aquasuretech, Quebec
