The founders of President Doors and Windows Inc., Christiane Parent and Yvan Houle, have announced a transaction ensuring the succession of the business and fostering its expansion. Marie-Pier Houle, Director of Administrative Services, and Marc-André Villemure, Director of Operations, both members of the founding family, and Benoit Dubord, a dynamic entrepreneur who will take-over the executive functions of Mr. Houle, become co-owners. Mr. Houle will keep an active role to ensure a smooth transition.

Window and Door magazine is reporting a mass shooting at fenestration software manufacturer, WTS Paradigm, on Sept. 19. Several employees of WTS Paradigm were shot on Sept. 19 after a gunman opened fire at the company’s Middleton, Wis., offices. According to Middleton Police Chief Charles Foulke, the shooting began at about 10:25 a.m.

Fenestration Canada has released a statement criticizing the Canadian government for retaliatory tariffs imposed on U.S. imports of aluminum windw and door products. The federal government announced charges of 10 per cent on these products entering the country in response to U.S. tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum announced in May.
Fenestration Canada is seeking testimonials from members to add to its communications to the Ontario government regarding the cancellation of the GreenON window rebate program. The association released the following message:
The federal government has announced retaliatory tariffs on imports from the U.S. of many steel and aluminum products, including "doors, windows and their frames and thresholds for doors." The tariffs are in response to American tarrifs announced in May on steel and aluminum entering the U.S. from Canada. The tariff on fenestration products will be 10 per cent.
June 29, 2018 - The Canadian Construction Association (CCA) is pleased with the Canadian government's decision to refuse the sale of Aecon Group Inc. to Chinese government-controlled CCC Holding Limited (CCCI). "CCA wishes to express its satisfaction with the government's confidence in the Canadian construction industry," said Mary Van Buren, CCA president. "We are happy that the government recognizes the fact that government-owned or controlled entities have no place to compete against private and publicly-traded companies in the Canadian construction industry."
The GreenON rebate program has been cancelled, according to the program's website. GreenON's sudden launch made waves last December by promising buyers of replacement windows up to $5,000 in rebates when they purchased Energy Star Most Efficient windows from WindowWise-accredited dealers. The program came under fire from industry critics for its haphazard rollout, poor communication, conflicting rules and unclear procedures and requirements.
George Warren, owner of Centennial Windows and Doors in London, Ont., was presented with Fenestration Canada's C.P. Loewen award recognizing lifetime contributions to the Canadian window and door industry. The presentation was made at the Fenestration Canada Spring Conference's President's Dinner, June 5 in Calgary.
