May 1, 2014 - Telus and The Globe and Mail announced the fourth annual installment of “The Challenge,” an annual contest that helps small business owners overcome their biggest business challenge with a $100,000 award from Telus and other support for the four finalists and 10 regional winners. Two years ago, Glassopolis, a specialty glass supplier in Toronto, won this award.
April 30, 2014 - Workplaces across North America will be planning their activities and programs for North American Occupational Safety and Health Week (NAOSH), May 4-10, 2014. The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) provides resources and tools Canadian workplaces can use to create their own safety week program.
April  15, 2014 - All Weather Windows came to the aid of Canadians in need for the third straight year with its annual Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build April 12 in Mississauga, Ont. Over 300 AWW employees, donating their time on a weekend, joined AWW senior vice president Henry Banman and Habitat for Humanity CEO Kevin Marshman in building enough windows and doors for 45 homes for families in need across the country.
April 14, 2014 - Quanex Building Products has promoted Vince Warne to director of technical services. Warne is an industry veteran, previously working as part of the Quanex Insulating Glass Systems team and serving in many roles, including production supervisor, standard spacer business unit manager, operations manager and process engineering manager.
April 11, 2014 - Technoform Glass Insulation North America, Inc. has partnered with Coniston Products Ltd., based in Delta, British Columbia. TGI Products enhance performance for commercial and residential insulating glass products, such as windows, entrance systems and curtainwalls.
April 1, 2014 - BONE Structure is the winner of the prestigious Dunamis Award in two categories "Sustainable Development, Ecocitizenship" and "Service Company", awarded by the Chamber of commerce and industry of Laval. More than 500 people from the business community met at the Château Royal on March 26 for the 33nd Dunamis Gala.
March 31, 2014 - John Swanson, editor and associate publisher of Window & Door, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2014, in Manhattan. He was 52 years old.
Feb. 21, 2014 - Quanex Building Products Corporation has announced that it has signed a purchase agreement to sell its interest in Nichols Aluminum, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary, to Aleris for $110 million in an all cash transaction. The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and will close shortly after those approvals are obtained.
Feb. 19, 2014 - Technoform Bautec North America has increased capacity by 29 per cent to meet growing demand for its polyamide thermal insulating strips. Used in aluminum-framed windows, doors and façades, Technoform Bautec’s strips optimize thermal performance helping products achieve the high-performance criteria to meet current and future design requirements, energy codes and green guidelines for both residential homes and commercial buildings.
Jan. 13, 2014 - The National Fenestration Rating Council has announced that Jeff Baker of WestLab has been elected its new chairman of the organization at their meeting in Dallas Texas on Jan. 8.
Jan. 9, 2014 - Tyman, the parent company of both Amesbury and Truth Hardware, has announced senior management changes as part of the integration of the businesses post the acquisition of Truth in July 2013. Jeff Graby, currently president of Truth Hardware will assume the role of president and CEO for the combined Amesbury and Truth organisations, with immediate effect.

Dec. 13, 2013 - Canadian and German companies are invited to submit proposals for collaborative industry‑led R&D projects aimed at creating new products, processes and services for civilian applications.
Dec. 10, 2013 - Weber Manufacturing Technologies has announced it is expanding its MasterGrain premium fiberglass residential entry door product line and moving production to Midland. President Chris Edwards said the move means long-term stability and new local jobs at the company. It also opens the door to significant market opportunities for the innovative, fully integrated world class mold maker that already supplies a broad customer base in the aerospace, automotive, and home and building industries.
Dec. 4, 2013 - Intertek Group plc has agreed to acquire Architectural Testing, Inc (ATI), one of the largest building products testing and certification companies in North America. Intertek will purchase the company from private equity firm Wafra Partners and the management shareholders for a total cash consideration of US$ 95 million (GBP 59 million). Closing of the acquisition is expected to occur in the fourth quarter of 2013
