June 4, 2018 – VELUX Canada, the Canadian sales company of the VELUX Group, has announced that its sister company, VELUX America has acquired Wasco Products Inc. This purchase will broaden the VELUX commercial daylighting capabilities in the Canadian market.
David Briggs, CEO of the VELUX Group based in Denmark, said the acquisition is a nice fit with our commercial skylight portfolio.
“It will further strengthen our position in the commercial and residential daylighting category,” said Briggs, who took the helm of the VELUX Group in January. “Wasco’s commitment to continuous product improvement makes it a perfect match for the VELUX family.”
VELUX has grown to be one of the largest commercial skylight manufacturers in the Canada with its Modular Skylight system, Flat Glass skylights, Commercial Sun Tunnel Skylights and the new Dynamic Dome.
Founded in 1935, Wasco has a heritage of innovation, bringing new products to market in anticipation of changing energy requirements and design needs. The company’s diverse commercial product line includes fully customizable metal-framed skylight systems, energy-efficient Lumira Aerogel insulated skylights, barrel vault skylights and multilayer polycarbonate skylights.

This acquisition may have come as a surprise considering the recent expansion of the VELUX manufacturing facilities in the United States. But the impact on Canada is extremely positive. “With the addition of existing Wasco manufacturing facilities in Wells, Maine, and Reno, Nevada, both of which are in close proximity to our major markets in Canada enables us to provide quicker delivery to our customers” explains Moxness. “Wasco also specializes in a variety of skylight systems that are not part of the VELUX product range, so we are excited to offer our customers more diversity.”
