Youth Employment Services seeks placements for trades trainees

November 19, 2020  By Youth Employment Services

Youth Employment Services (YES), is a non-profit employment service organization that helps connect local employers with job seekers who are motivated and ready to work. We strive to support our clients and partners with services and programs that deliver successful results.

In partnership with the Labour Education Centre (LEC), the Pre-Apprenticeship Program in the Construction Trades provides participants with 8 weeks hard skills training and workplace readiness skills. It has been designed to expose participants to a multitude of trades, health and safety training and certificates, and participate in the building of several projects. We are looking for companies to partner with who are looking to hire or can provide 8-week job placements for our graduates. Funded by the provincial government, the program can offer wage subsidies to eligible employers!

Across our different programs, we worked with 1,653 employers last year that resulted in 1,502 work experience placements. We paid out over $7,320,577 in wage subsidies and training allowances to employers and clients supplementing initial training costs in order to encourage employers to hire and to boost local economies. We are excited to add the Pre-Apprenticeship Construction Trades program to our list of successful programs that helps bridge the skills gap and links employers with trained and motivated skilled trades employees and apprentices.
