This staggering number equates to around 830,000 new houses per year, resulting in a 40-percent surge in the current housing supply, as reported by Royal Bank. Back in 1972, Canada constructed a whopping 232,200 new homes. Fast forward to 2022, even with a larger population, only 219,500 homes managed to hit the market.
